Teen Pregnancy

Here is some information from the National Library of Medicine on Teen Pregnancy.

Teen pregnancy is at an all time high. What can be done to help prevent unplanned pregnancies by teens? Do we need more educational tools whether it be in the schools, workshops, community centers, or churches. Do we educate the parents of these teens as to how to help prevent these unplanned pregnancies?

Most teens do not plan on getting pregnant. Usually they become pregnant on a dare basis, peer pressure, or not knowing that if they have sexual intercourse they risk becoming pregnant. Alot of teens become pregnant because they feel that if they have something or shall I say someone to care for they will be loved by that human being. Most teens do it strictly for attention, whether it is from the boy they become pregnant by or their parents.

  1. How do you turn this into an Inside/Out story. What can YOU add to this discussion? What does BCTC do to support teenage mothers to stay in school?

  2. I'm not sure how I will turn this inside/out. I could add personal experience to this dialogue on how it affected me as a teen mother, but also how it didn't hinder me either. I will have to do some research on how the school as a whole supports those mothers to stay in school.
